Practice attendance is important in the development of the kids and swimming.  However, due to family schedules and group practice time changes from previous years, it may be hard to attend.  Swimmers should try and make as many practices per week as they can.  There is no required attendance policy but the following is suggested:

Mini: 2-3 practices per week

Intermediate: 3-4 practices per week

Junior: 4-5 practices per week

Senior: 5-6 practices per week.

Holiday Schedule

The following schedules apply for the 2011-2012 holidays:

  • New Year's Day - No swim practice; winter break practice schedule applies
  • All holidays between January 1 and Easter - no change in regular practice schedule
  • Easter
  • July 4th - No practices
  • Labor Day - No practices
  • Thanksgiving Day - No practices
  • Christmas - No practices

Equipment

All swim team members must purchase their own training equipment. This equipment will be used throughout the season and is instrumental in the development of swimmers mechanics and endurance. All swimmers in Intermediate and above should purchase the gear. While it is not mandatory, it will be used frequently. Below is a description of the specific gear and attached is a link to where it can be purchased.

Mesh bag – to carry gear (ClubSwim Mesh or Sporti Mesh)

Strokemaker paddles – for improved stroke mechanics. The link below is for a specific size – green for ages 9-13 year olds. Check the sight for additional sizes if you do not fit in that age category

Pull buoy – to use with paddles.  The Y has been nice enough to purchase pull buoys.  We will be using throughout the season but it is not necessary to purchase.

Feel free to shop other sites to find the best pricing, but make sure you get the appropriate gear.
